Compliance and Integrity Training for Business

Build an ethical culture, strengthen accountability, and support confident decision-making through practical and expert training from a former in-house General Counsel who has worked in the mining, engineering and FMCG industries.

Ethical lapses and compliance failures can expose a business to financial loss, regulatory scrutiny, reputational harm and damaged relationships with employees, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. They often arise not because employees intend to do the wrong thing, but because they are uncertain how to respond when commercial, personal or operational pressures arise.

Our Compliance & Integrity Training programme turns policies and principles into practical guidance your people can apply in their day-to-day roles. The programme is designed to help participants recognise ethical risks early, understand the standards expected of them, and make sound decisions when the right course of action is not immediately clear.

How it benefits your organisation

A strong compliance culture is not created by policies alone. Employees and managers need to understand how the organisation’s values, Code of Conduct and internal controls apply in real situations.

This training helps organisations create a consistent approach to ethical conduct and accountability. It gives employees practical tools to identify potential concerns, seek guidance, raise issues responsibly and avoid conduct that could place them or the business at risk.

For managers and team leaders, the programme addresses the responsibility to lead by example, communicate ethical expectations clearly, respond appropriately to concerns and ensure that performance pressures do not undermine the organisation’s values or internal standards.

Our approach

Our training is practical, engaging and focused on real-world application, rather than abstract legal theory. We minimise jargon and use relevant examples, discussion points and scenario-based exercises to encourage active participation.

Each session can be tailored to your organisation’s Code of Conduct, internal policies, reporting channels and operational environment. This enables participants to see how the organisation’s own standards apply to the decisions they make every day.

Where a Code of Conduct or relevant policies are available, these can be used as the guiding framework for the training. Where they are not available, the programme can be structured around general ethical and legal principles relevant to the organisation and its people.

Topics covered

The training can be tailor-made to accommodate any compliance or integrity topic the company wishes to address. Our training generally covers the following key topics:

  • Ethical culture and tone from the top. The role of leadership, individual accountability and creating an environment in which doing the right thing is expected and supported.

  • Code of Conduct. Understanding the purpose of the Code of Conduct and applying it as a practical guide to everyday decisions and behaviour.

  • Conflicts of interest. Identifying actual, potential and perceived conflicts, and understanding the importance of disclosure, transparency and appropriate management of conflicts.

  • Anti-bribery and corruption. Recognising bribery and corruption risks in both public and private sector dealings, including the use of agents, intermediaries, suppliers and other third parties.

  • Gifts, hospitality and entertainment. Recognising the difference between legitimate business courtesies and improper inducements, including the need for appropriate approvals and record-keeping.

  • Procurement integrity and asset protection. Managing supplier interactions ethically, identifying fraud red flags, protecting company assets and avoiding improper influence in procurement processes.

  • Sales integrity and responsible commercial conduct. Ethical customer engagement, accurate product and pricing representations, responsible discounting and incentive practices, approval controls, sales-target pressures and the heightened oversight responsibilities of sales managers.

  • Confidentiality and information governance. Protecting company, customer and supplier information, handling sensitive information responsibly and understanding the risks of inappropriate disclosure or use.

  • Respectful workplace conduct. Promoting a professional, respectful and inclusive workplace, including awareness of harassment, discrimination, bullying and unacceptable conduct.

  • Reporting concerns and whistleblowing. Understanding employees’ responsibilities to raise concerns, the reporting channels available and the importance of non-retaliation.

  • Practical scenarios. Applying the principles through realistic workplace dilemmas and interactive discussion relevant to the organisation’s operating environment.
